AUDIO ENGINEER

A key position of the Virginia Stage Company, the Sound Supervisor is primarily responsible for executing the installation, operation, and strike of sound and projection equipment for all VSC productions and special events. The Sound Supervisor is also the primary console operator for all performances.

LIGHTING & SOUND SUPERVISOR

A key position of the Virginia Stage Company, the Lighting and Sound Supervisor is primarily responsible for the execution of budgeting, engineering, and implementation of lighting, projections, and sound designs for each of Virginia Stage Company’s productions and special events. Maintenance, repair, and organization of the lighting and sound equipment for both VSC productions and venue rentals are another key responsibility. 

Properties Manager

The Properties Manager is responsible for creating and sourcing props, set dressing, and other related elements for all VSC productions and special events, with the guidance of directors, designers, and stage management. The Properties Manager regularly collaborates with the Technical Director (TD), Costume Shop Manager,  and other departments, to help create elements as needed. The Properties Manager reports to the Production Manager. This position intermittently supervises Overhire and Volunteer staff.

carpenter

The carpenter is primarily responsible for assisting the scenic department in the construction, install, and strike of all Virginia Stage Company productions and special events. Some night and weekend hours may be necessary.

Bartenders

Bartender’s primary duties include: Demonstrating the ability to prepare consistent drinks while possessing an adaptable memory of the show to show drink menu, provide a personable and friendly hospitality experience for all patrons, set-up and maintain a clean and well-stocked bar, manage restocking and accurate inventory counts at the top and bottom of each night, ability to obtain necessary food or alcohol service licenses, including TIPS certification, and accurately providing and knowing show information and runtimes to provide to guests when asked.

The position is an hourly compensated position (plus tips) at $12/hour, with mostly night time and weekend shifts needed. On-site training provided (not including necessary food or alcohol certifications).

Virginia Stage Associates

Volunteers are vital to Virginia Stage Company, and as a member of Virginia Stage Associates, you become an important part of an organization dedicated to giving the gift of live, professional theater to Hampton Roads. For a small annual membership fee (discounts available for students, groups, families, and the military), the Virginia Stage Associates provide volunteer support to Virginia Stage Company in many ways, while receiving benefits in exchange for their help.

Ushers

We are currently in need of volunteer ushers for all of our productions! Ushering with Virginia Stage Company allows you to gain volunteer experience with Hampton Roads' leading professional theatre and the ability to see the historic Wells Theatre (during productions taking place there). And the best part is: you get to see the show for free!
